I’m a technical researcher and web developer at the Institute for Learning Research Technology (ILRT) in Bristol University. I also play various instruments in the Orchestra Cube (Improvisational collective based at the Cube Cinema, Bristol). I was born in Chile and grew up as a second generation refugee of Pinochet’s dictatorship, between the UK (Glasgow) and Italy (North-East) before settling here in Bristol.
I’m interested in sustainability and it’s link to open source and distributed processes in general - so from a performance point of view, how to decentralise it. This links also with improvisation as a way of decentralising creativity. In various improvisation collectives mixing art forms I’ve done work mixing improvised live music with abstract video, action painting, storytelling, feature film sound tracks (most recently Pandora’s Box with the Orchestra Cube), dance, and many other collaborations. During Summer 2006 I took part in the Locating Grid Technologies workshops which tried to get Bristol based and UK artists, researchers and academics experimenting with Access Grid based performance, and with Grid (e.g p2p) technologies in general.
Most recently, I’ve been interested in doing some kind of collaboration between live arts practices and live Machinima techniques.
